Position Overview
Sea Philly is seeking a skilled and personable Captain to operate our classic vessel for private charters along the Philadelphia waterfront. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent customer service skills, and a deep appreciation for hospitality. The ideal candidate is a confident mariner with a warm, engaging presence who can provide guests with a safe, smooth, and memorable experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate and navigate Sea Philly’s vessel in compliance with all Coast Guard regulations and company protocols.

  • Ensure the safety of all passengers and crew while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.

  • Provide a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for guests, enhancing their overall experience.

  • Conduct safety briefings and enforce safety procedures on board.

  • Assist in light maintenance and upkeep of the vessel to ensure it remains in top condition.

  • Collaborate with the First Mate and other crew members to deliver exceptional hospitality.

  • Monitor weather conditions and adjust cruise plans as necessary to maintain safety.

  • Represent Sea Philly’s brand with professionalism and enthusiasm.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • USCG Captain’s License (OUPV or higher) required.

  • Experience operating small passenger vessels, preferably classic or wooden boats.

  • Strong knowledge of maritime safety regulations and emergency procedures.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on guest experience.

  • Ability to perform minor vessel maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.

  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

  • CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain before the start date).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in hospitality, tourism, or charter services.

  • While not necessary, familiarity with the Philadelphia waterfront and local waterways is a huge advantage.

  • Passion for storytelling and engaging with guests about maritime history.
