Position Overview
Sea Philly is seeking a skilled and personable Captain to operate our classic vessel for private charters along the Philadelphia waterfront. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent customer service skills, and a deep appreciation for hospitality. The ideal candidate is a confident mariner with a warm, engaging presence who can provide guests with a safe, smooth, and memorable experience.

Key Responsibilities

Safely operate and navigate Sea Philly’s vessel in compliance with all Coast Guard regulations and company protocols.

Ensure the safety of all passengers and crew while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.

Provide a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for guests, enhancing their overall experience.

Conduct safety briefings and enforce safety procedures on board.

Assist in light maintenance and upkeep of the vessel to ensure it remains in top condition.

Collaborate with the First Mate and other crew members to deliver exceptional hospitality.

Monitor weather conditions and adjust cruise plans as necessary to maintain safety.

Represent Sea Philly’s brand with professionalism and enthusiasm.

Qualifications & Requirements

USCG Captain’s License (OUPV or higher) required.

Experience operating small passenger vessels, preferably classic or wooden boats.

Strong knowledge of maritime safety regulations and emergency procedures.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on guest experience.

Ability to perform minor vessel maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.

Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain before the start date).

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in hospitality, tourism, or charter services.

While not necessary, familiarity with the Philadelphia waterfront and local waterways is a huge advantage.

Passion for storytelling and engaging with guests about maritime history.
